From the” I Wouldn’t Have Been a Racist A-Hole If I Knew You Were Going to Be Filming,” files. This guy thinks he is to being so smooth. From the CBS News Video site:
A man brought a stuffed monkey doll wearing an Obama sticker to a Palin campaign event in Johnstown, Pa. Realizing he was caught on camera, he passed it off to a child he didn’t know.

It seems unimaginable to me that people still think like this. Unfortunately straight up racism will play a role in this election.

Angered by a delay in the receipt of his voter registration card, a Louisiana man today threatened election officials, claiming that he urgently needed to cast a ballot to “keep the nigger out of office,” according to police.

Georgia GOP Congressman Lynn Westmoreland calls Obama uppity. The long campaign is wearing on them–it’s starting to get real hard for the GOP to remember what they are not supposed to say in public.

Whose America
October 20, 2008Five Thirty Eight has a great piece on the demographics of what the candidates think the “real America” is. When Sarah Palin is out in these small towns proclaiming this is the real America, it is very telling. The Palin McCain juggernaut talks about are basically white. The idea that the metropolitan areas of this country don’t represent the real America, or the areas of this country that aren’t racially pure aren’t genuinely American is offensive.
As Barack Obama said, ”There are no real or fake parts of this country. We’re not separated by the pro-america and anti-america parts of this country…”
